Submit Your Work
Spring 2016 Call for Papers
All undergraduates are invited to submit their work for consideration for publication! We encourage the submission of papers written for a course.
The deadline for our Fall 2016 issue is Sunday, June 12, 2016. Papers submitted earlier may benefit from receiving feedback and an opportunity to revise prior to the first official round of review. Papers must be submitted through the form below. Deadline extensions can be granted upon request to team@bioethicsjournal.com.
Authorship Requirements
To submit a paper for consideration, the primary author must be an undergraduate student at an accredited institution. Authors must also carefully read and sign the Author Contract.
Recent graduates may submit as long as the work was entirely worked on during the author’s undergraduate career, and would be published within one year of the author’s graduation. For example, a student graduating in May 2015 may submit their paper for consideration for the Fall 2015 and Spring 2016 issues (before the deadlines in June and December 2015, respectively).
All persons designated as authors need not qualify for authorship as undergraduates. As long as the primary author qualifies, secondary authors may include advisors and professional investigators. The primary undergraduate author should have participated significantly to the concept and design of the work and writing the manuscript to take public responsibility for it. The editor may request justification for the assignment of authorship. Names of those who contributed general support or technical help may be listed in an acknowledgment.
Manuscript Requirements
To be considered for publication, pieces must be at least 2,000 words in length (excluding the abstract, headers, footnotes, and references). Additionally, we expect submissions to have a minimum of ten peer-reviewed references. Exceptions to the latter rule may be made for more philosophy-oriented papers. Please contact us at team@bioethicsjournal.com to inquire about exceptions to these requirements.
Submissions should be double-spaced and in 12 point Times New Roman font. Your document must include a reference section in author-date Chicago style. Please number each page in the bottom right hand corner, and include the title of your submission in the bottom left hand corner of each page. Please do not include your full name on the document you submit- note it only in the submission form below.
Your submission must be in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format.
